BOOK UPDATE

It's been a little time since I posted an update here ... things have been moving along behind the scenes and we're working on a pile of new titles for the latter part of this year.

Two have been announced already - Something in the Darkness, our guide to the second season of Torchwood, and Angel on the Inside, another brilliant crime novel from Mike Ripley. Hopefully before long we'll be able to announce the remaining titles, but until we have them developed to a stage we're happy they will broadly meet the dates we intend, then it's not really fair to give the details out.

ORDERING SERVICE UPDATE

We have been advised by WorldPay who manage the online ordering for the site that the payment systems are being upgraded on SATURDAY 9 FEBRUARY from around 00:01 GMT until around 10:00 GMT.

During this period customers may be unable to order books via the site or there may be instability encountered.

Apologies in advance for this.

CHILD OF TIME HARDBACK

Apologies for the delay in posting an update here on this edition. Christmas and the New Year completely got in the way ...

We received finished copies of the hardback edition about a week before Christmas, and we promptly despatched them to everyone who had pre-ordered the title. Hopefully the majority arrived in time for Christmas, and our apologies to anyone who received it later on.

The entire run of Time Hunter titles is still available from Telos in paperback, though some titles are now in short demand. In hardback we still have copies of all but the very first title - The Winning Side - in stock, but again as these are limited to 100 numbered copies only of each, they are going fast.

NEW TITLES FOR 2008

Telos Publishing is proud to announce two new titles for later in 2008, pre-ordering for which is available now.

First there's the follow-up volume to our highly acclaimed guide to the first series of Torchwood. Something In The Darkness: The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to Torchwood Series 2 does what it says on the tin. Reaction to the first Torchwood book, Inside The Hub, was extremely positive indeed, and with the second series starting this week on BBC2, it's time to get reaquainted with Captain Jack, Gwen, Ianto, Owen and Toshiko. If you love this dark and gritty series then you'll want to have this book on your shelves.

We're also doing another hardback volume for this book to match the edition we did of the first title. So get your orders in quick if you want a copy as they will be a limited edition of only 100 copies, all signed by the author.

Second, and following the success of Telos' paperback editions of Mike Ripley's first three 'Angel' novels, we are pleased and proud to present a fourth novel, Angel On The Inside. This is actually the tenth in the series and has never had a paperback edition before.

Ordering for Something In The Darkness is now available on the site and the order section for Angel On The Inside will be available shortly.

CHILD OF TIME HARDBACK

An update on the status of this. We had the books delivered, but the silver stamping on the front cover had not been completed. So the books have now been collected by the printers and they are sorting this out for us at the moment. I don't have an eta as yet as to when we will get the completed books back again, but I'm hoping it will be before Christmas and of course as soon as we do get them, then we'll be sending the copies out to everyone who has preordered them.

TARGET BOOK SIGNING

The launch and signing for THE TARGET BOOK went very well indeed, despite the tube stations being closed or lines not running, a NHS march in Central London closing half the roads, the pub not having a downstairs bar, and no seating upstairs.

It was great to see folks involved in the book range together, and all were happy to sign books for those who made it along.

BOOK NEWS

We have today received the hardbacks for THIRD DIMENSION and TALKBACK 3 ... unfortunately there is a problem with the hardbacks for CHILD OF TIME which we are looking to get resolved and so these are still not available.

We'll be sorting out all the pre-orders this week on those that we do have.

UPDATE

Just a quick update on things. We have been spending the last week sorting out and packing up all the copies of THE TARGET BOOK from direct orders, and also getting them out to the distributors and shops as well. We're taking all that we have managed to get done this week to the post office this morning. Unfortunately we have also just run out of packing materials and so as soon as we get them restocked next week, we'll continue getting the books out to people.

The hardback editions of TALKBACK 3, THIRD DIMENSION and CHILD OF TIME have been delayed again, and we're now expecting copies early next week, so those too will be processed as soon as we get them in.

I'll also be sending out the contributor and review copies of all the recent books as soon as I can - apologies to everyone for the delay on this. As you can imagine there is a lot of work to process the books and we're getting through them as quickly as we can.

It was great to see people at the Daleks' Master Plan stage play, and also at the launch signing for THE TARGET BOOK, and at the signing with Tom Baker and Peter Davison on Monday at The Stamp Centre. I should also be at a DOCTOR WHO event in Newbury on the 18th November, and then at Chicago TARDIS over the weekend of 23rd November, so hopefully I'll meet more people at those events.

THE TARGET BOOK - UPDATE

Just a quick update on the status of THE TARGET BOOK. We have now received the stocks of the paperback, and the mailing boxes arrived today as well, so we'll be able to get copies off to everyone who has ordered it from us. I'm hopeful that we might be able to start to do this from tomorrow (Tuesday)so people get their copies before the launch/signing on Saturday.

Orders for shops and dealers will be packaged up this week, but as these are despatched via a mailing company, it's unlikely that copies will be sent before Friday, meaning that they will arrive the following week.

The hardback editions are now ready, and are on their way to me via UPS (and you really don't want to know what the cost to ship the hardback copies via UPS are!) to arrive hopefully middle of this week, in time for the launch signing.


OTHER BOOKS

We are also expecting/hoping that the hardback editions of TALKBACK 3 and CHILD OF TIME will arrive this Wednesday, and this is also the date for the paperback and hardback editions of THIRD DIMENSION. So apart from meaning that we'll have no floor space left on Wednesday, it means that we should have copies of all the titles available for the launch.
