About the Authors

David J Howe and Stephen James WalkerDavid Howe has been involved with Doctor Who research and writing for over 20 years.

He has been consultant to a large number of publishers and manufacturers for their Doctor Who lines, and is author or co-author of eighteen factual titles associated with the show. He also has one of the largest collections of Doctor Who merchandise in the world.

David is contributing editor to Starburst magazine and has edited the book reviews column for that magazine since 1984. He is also reviews editor for Shivers magazine. In addition he has written articles, interviews and reviews for a wide number of publications including Fear, Dreamwatch, Stage and Television Today, The Dark Side, Doctor Who Magazine, The Guardian, Film Review, SFX and Sci-Fi Entertainment.

He is on the committee of the British Fantasy Society and has edited their bi-monthly newsletter as well as editing and publishing several books for them, including the British and World Fantasy Award shortlisted Manitou Man, a limited edition hardback and paperback collection of short fiction by horror author Graham Masterton.

He wrote the book Reflections: The Fantasy Art of Stephen Bradbury for Dragon's World Publishers and has contributed short fiction to Peeping Tom, Dark Asylum, Decalog and Perfect Timing and factual articles to James Herbert: By Horror Haunted (Hodder & Stoughton, ed. Stephen Jones).

Stephen James Walker is one of the directors and co-owners of Telos Publishing Ltd. He started watching Doctor Who from the very first season, and soon became hooked!

Stephen joined the original Doctor Who Fan Club in 1973, and has been actively involved in celebrating and writing about the series ever since.

He was editor of the seminal reference work Doctor Who – An Adventure in Space and Time for most of its run, and was also responsible for its 'sister' publication, The Data-File Project.

With David J Howe and Mark Stammers, he created and edited the multiple award-winning fanzine The Frame and wrote a number of acclaimed Doctor Who reference books for Virgin Publishing, including The Sixties, The Seventies, The Eighties and the Handbook series.

He contributed background information chapters to Titan Books' Doctor Who script book series, and co-wrote, with Andrew Pixley, one of Marvel UK's Doctor Who Yearbook titles.

He was the initiator and, for the first two volumes, co-editor of Virgin Publishing's Decalog books – the first ever Doctor Who short story anthology range. He has also contributed numerous articles to Doctor Who Magazine and other genre titles and fanzines.

His many other interests include British cult TV, film noir, vintage crime fiction, Laurel and Hardy and an eclectic mix of soul, jazz, R&B and other popular music.
