![]() Foreword by John Ostrander
Deluxe Edition Frontispiece by Walter Howarth The American Civil War … a time of great unrest, when fathers found themselves in conflict with their sons and when lawlessness and slavery were rife. The Doctor, together with his companions Peri and Erimem, arrive in the middle of the conflict. The Doctor manages to cope in his own inimitable manner, however Peri – an American – and Erimem – a dark-skinned Egyptian – find themselves faced with all the bigotry and hatred that typified the war for some. Featuring the Fifth Doctor, Peri and Erimem. Background information:Telos Publishing presents the fourteenth in our series of original Doctor Who Novellas, Blood and Hope. The story is written by Iain McLaughlin who has constructed this novella from a mixture of letters, diary extracts and historical documents to create an unfolding tale of how the Civil War affected the people involved in it. The book was available in two superb editions: a standard hardback with cloth-effect cover and foil-stamped logo and title; and a signed and numbered limited edition deluxe hardback. Both editions featured a special foreword written by John Ostrander, the deluxe edition also included a specially commissioned frontispiece illustration by Walter Howarth. All copies of the limited edition deluxe version came individually signed by the author, frontispiece artist and foreword writer. Blood and Hope was published in February 2004
